Vintage NYC Magazine features NFL Giants legend Howard Cross for Black History Month in our February issue.

Howard is one of the premier tight ends of his era. He was an analyst on This Week in Football, the YES Network's weekly in-season NFL studio show. He was also a sideline reporter during WFAN SportsRadio's Giants game broadcasts, and a regular on MY9's Giants post-game shows. Previously at YES, Howard was an analyst for the network's Ivy League telecasts and its local high school football telecasts.

Howard achieved13 seasons as a star tight end with the New York Giants. He was drafted by the Giants in 1989 and retired from the club in 2001, having played in a franchise-record 207 games. Howard started in 171 of those 207 games and recorded 201 career receptions for 2,194 yards and 17 touchdowns.

In his second season with the Giants, Howard played a key role as the Giants marched through the regular season and post-season and ultimately defeated the Buffalo Bills in Super Bowl XXV. Three of his four catches in that Super Bowl went for first downs. Howard helped lead the Giants to another Super Bowl in 2001. In 1995 he was named the Giants' 1995 True Value Man of the Year.

In 2010, Howard was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame, which counts as members such luminaries as Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Jesse Owens, Bear Bryant, Carl Lewis, Bo Jackson, Satchel Paige and Charles Barkley.

Howard is currently a Principal at international commercial real estate firm, Cresa in NY. As a tenant rep broker licensed in NY & NJ, he uses his extensive experience and knowledge to help his clients.

Howard is very active in the community, doing his best to give back. Among some of his important charities are Autism Speaks, JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation), and The Valerie Fund. He also makes frequent appearances at schools and camps for kids.

A Giant in the NFL, a giant in the community, Howard’s remarkable accomplishments and generosity are a shining example of talent, dedication and compassion.
