Marcus tell us where your desire to dance comes from: I can recall the exact moment when that desire "this is how I want to impact lives" happened. It was when I saw the famous "Jumpin Jive" clip with Cab Calloway and the Nicholas Brothers. I remember after watching this clip, literally three times straight, a deep passion came over me so strong it made me rethink my whole path in life. For me, I knew right then and there what I wanted to do. So much so, that I changed my major in college to Theatre. It was the first time in my life I really felt alive with purpose. I knew it was a moment in time I would never forget. Where does your drive come from? I'm a firm believer in "faith without works is dead." So I began putting the work behind my faith which soon lead me to LA, embarking on a longevity career in dance, allowing me to make a healthy transition into acting. Which led me to audition for the feature film "High Strung". How would you describe your experience with the film "High Strung" Directed by Michael Damian? I would describe my experience dancing in this film as challenging and fulfilling. This is the first time I have worked with choreographer, Dave Scott, who is also one of the main reasons I started on this journey of dance. I grew up trying to imitate his style. So for me, it was a fulfilling milestone experience, as well as challenging because Dave's choreography doesn't just fit on you, you have to push yourself & concentrate at it for it to even remotely look decent on you. I have done other movies but this is the first major film role for me. What can we look forward to seeing you in? I have another dance movie coming out this year as well called "Breaking Through" directed by John Swetnam and produced by John Legend. Which is very exciting. I am currently prepping to start another film mid April that I am, unfortunately, not at liberty to discuss. The only thing I can say is, it's not a dance movie. What have you learned from your journey? I'd say patience. It's been a long and prosperous six years of my journey. It is with great excitement that I look forward to what God has in store for me. Wherever that path leads me, I know it's exactly where I am meant to be and that gives me all the comfort and confidence I need to move forward. Life is very exciting for me right now and I look forward to the next chapter in my life. What do you consider your breakout role? I can't say I've had a breakout role yet since I'm seeing the first fruits of my labor and finally being able to get my feet wet. But I know that role is waiting for me. What advice would you give to the youth just starting out? Advice I would give to the youth is to aspire to fulfill their dreams by stepping out in faith. Don't listen to what others say you can or cannot achieve. If you have a desire within, it's been placed there for a reason. When there is something great in your life there will always be someone who will try to discourage you. Listen to your heart. What do you hope to see for your future? I just hope to see the volume of my work touch and inspire others. That this path I am being directed down is bigger than just me.
